Death, Faith, Hope, Tribute

SHINE ON, YOU CRAZY DIAMOND

Thought you’d somehow GET LUCKY

To undo the WASTED YEARS

I guess they were just HIGH HOPES

Cause today we’re POLES APART

The hour you left this ORDINARY WORLD

Sparked the end of GOOD TIMES

Now you’re sailing IN ANOTHER LAND

MILES BEYOND the bounds of pain

WISH YOU WERE HERE today

But you’re in GOOD COMPANY anyway

While I STILL GOT THE BLUES

And fight my way with BLURRED VISION

Walk those FIELDS OF GOLD, Chief

And SHINE ON, YOU CRAZY DIAMOND

I wonder if you’re reliving your CHILDHOOD

Or entertaining your GUARDIAN ANGEL

Walking around humming AMAZING GRACE

Or wondering if IT’S A MISTAKE

Joining in some heavenly CROWD CHANT

Or whispering the old HALLELUJAH

Bragging about your good old FRIENDS

Or back to BREAKING THE RULES

HEY JOE, just keep things SMOOTH no matter what you do

For someday soon I’LL BE ON MY WAY too

AS TEARS GO BY each day on the little blue orb

And until the rest run OUT OF TIME

Keep trippin’ ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE

And SHINE ON, YOU CRAZY DIAMOND

P.S. My cousin, Joel, loved music. This poem is made up of the songs and/or songs by artists he used to listen to.
